It is not easy to replace children’s unhealthy habits with healthy ones. Therefore, it is necessary to arm yourself with patience and persistence. If children are accustomed to strong artificial spices, it is difficult to motivate them to try and to like natural flavors.

Therefore, it is important that they build healthy habits from an early age. But, if you have not started on time and their immunity is weakened, there are ways to increase the alkalinity of the children’s organism and enable them to have healthier eating habits.

1. Lemonade with honey for good morning

Lemon is very basic food, although based on its taste you might think it is just the opposite. Surely you can convince your picky child to drink a glass of lemonade with quality honey in the morning. You can add squeezed orange juice as well.

2. Fruit in the morning and on an empty stomach

Almost all fruit – except plum, blueberry and cranberry – are basic foods, and the utilization of vitamins and minerals is best in the morning, when the stomach is completely empty, or during the day, but three to four hours after some other meal. Do not teach children to eat fruit after a meal, in that case they will not have much benefit from it.

So, after lemonade with honey offer your child fruit salad (no sugar, cream, etc.) or favorite piece of fruit, but it should not always be the same fruit. On summer days, you can blend fruits, freeze it and serve as a healthy ice cream.

3. Cereal for breakfast

Millet, quinoa and amaranth are most basic cereals and should be given to children as often as possible. Try to cook them in vegetable, goat’s or cow’s milk, and when the porridge cools, sweeten it with honey, add the mashed banana or dried fruit to make it taste better. Season with cocoa and add the ground seeds and almonds.

4. In addition to lunch salad should be mandatory

There must be at least several types of vegetables that your child likes. Teach them to eat salads with main course, especially if it contains meat. Fresh vegetables are very alkaline and essential to us for good health.

Experiment with salads from radish, lettuce, arugula, young carrots, spring onions, cucumber… dressing should be from olive or some other cold pressed oil and refined oil should not be used because they increase the acidity of the body.

5. Homemade bread as often as possible

It is not easy to find enough time to make homemade bread, but it is certainly worth a try. The whole process is not very complicated and does not last long, but it is of great importance for our children.

The breads that are sold are full of additives and refined flour so they affect the pH balance of the body and stimulate mucus production, which is particularly undesirable in children that suffering from allergies, asthma and respiratory infections.

If you decide to make bread, you can use flour from millet, corn, buckwheat, and always add the ground seeds, sesame and nuts.

6. No meat on the menu every day

There is no need to prepare meat every day for children’s daily meal. Meat is a food that has a low pH and has a significant impact on the increase in acidity of the body. Instead of meat, for lunch prepare eggs, beans, lentils, peas, and tofu. If children do not like beans, cream soup of leguminous vegetables are an excellent way to persuade them to eat.

7. Limit the sweets

It is impossible to completely forbid children to eat sweets, but it is possible and necessary to teach them to consume them with measure. Three times a week is enough. Try as often as possible to give them homemade sweets in which you put less sugar, and which you sweeten with honey or fruit.
