Tomatoes help with allergies, anemia, arthritis, asthma, heart disease, eczema, sprains and ligament ISIC, it boosts immunity and protects against infections and colds.

Thanks to an abundance of lycopene and vitamin C, tomatoes are one of anti aging foods according to experts. These two ingredients have been confirmed to be the allies in the fight against free radicals. While lycopene maintains young and elastic tissue, vitamin C as an antioxidant strengthens the immune system and protecting us against infections and colds. Combined together they represent allies of beauty and youth.

Tomatoes are originally from Central and South America and were cultivated even during the rule of Aztecs and Incas. For the first time in Europe they were introduced in Spain and Portugal at the end of the fifteenth century.

Because of their energy and medicinal values, tomatoes became a favorite salad and food. As you might already know they are widely used in Mediterranean cuisine, in dishes like pasta, rice, cheese, eggs, meat and fish.

There are numerous types known as beef heart, pear tomatoes, seedless tomatoes, small tomatoes on the vine, yellow and green tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and many others.

Tomato is a seasonal fruit available from May to October, but thanks to greenhouses, they can be found throughout the year.

Its red color comes from lycopene, which is a carotenoid with special antioxidant properties.

Lycopene fights free radicals, protecting the skin, which is why it’s recommended to eat more tomatoes while tanning. It was discovered that the tomatoes are effective in preventing prostate cancer, which is why men especially need to eat it.

Tomatoes are rich in protein and beta-carotene, vegetable fats, vitamins A, B, C, D, K and the minerals iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus. In small quantities it contains lutein, a mineral salt, caffeine, chlorogenic and ferulic acid, flavonoids, and a number of other beneficial ingredients. It also contains rare minerals copper, manganese, boron and cobalt, also in small quantities.

Mixed with cold pressed olive oil, seasoned with oregano or any other aromatic plants, tomato is light dressing, which when grilled or cooked by steaming gives meat a special taste. If tomatoes are too acidic, you should add little sugar to sauces and juice, because it can cause increased secretion of gastric acid in some people.

Tomato juice is most effective according to most of the studies. As a beverage it regulates metabolism, strengthens resistance and unloads extra fluid from the body. Tomato juice is recommended for fatigue because strengthens and purifies the body. They are also good, as we mentioned already, for prevention of skin aging, but also in prevention of many respiratory related diseases.

In simple words – it is healthy as it could be and you should eat it as much as you can.
