Lasagna Without Pasta

It can be hard to lose weight and stick to the lean diet if you can’t eat some of your favorite meals. However, on the other side if you can enjoy the taste of your favorite dish, without jeopardizing your waist, it can make world of a difference.

One of the first ingredients you have to avoid if you want to lose weight is pasta. The main reason for this is abundance of carbohydrates which drastically slow down metabolism, which ultimately results in bloating and sleepiness. All you have to do is replace pasta with healthy alternatives like zucchini and eggplant. Process is really simple and there is no reason why you shouldn’t try this out yourself.

Zucchini

Before we go into details let’s just say the obvious thing, it is best to use organic vegetables. Peel the zucchini and cut it into long thin strips. Salt them and put them on the side so all the unnecessary water is released. After 10-15 minutes, wipe the excess water with paper towels and lightly grill them in a pan (3 to 4 minutes should be enough). After you grill them all water should’ve evaporated, if that’s not the case, use paper towels again to get rid of leftover liquid. Now all you have to do is find your favorite recipe and use your zucchini instead of the pasta to prepare it.

So why is this excellent alternative to pasta?

Half a kilo of zucchini, prepared for lasagna, contains only 60 calories. Besides that, this amount of zucchini will give you daily recommendation of potassium, the mineral which regulates blood pressure.

Eggplant

Cut up two eggplants into wide thin slices, salt them and leave them aside for thirty minutes to release the bitterness. Spray some oil on them and bake them for 10 minutes on 200C. After 10 minutes flip over the slices and continue baking for another 10 minutes. After you’re done with baking choose one of your lasagna recipes and use eggplant as replacement for pasta.

Why is eggplant beneficial?

It is great source of fiber which primarily benefits digestive system. However it also regulates cholesterol and blood sugar.

As you can see it only takes a bit of imagination to turn unhealthy meal into healthy one, without jeopardizing mush of a taste. Lasagna is great example for this, however, you can use the same concept to prepare many of your favorite meals.
