2. Paria Canyon – Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona

In the south of Arizona, on the border with Utah, lays one of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet. It is a canyon that is carved by nature in the magnificent scenery.

It is believed that these formations were caused by erosion, especially wind, in the Jurassic period. Sand dunes were eventually transformed into stone with the help of calcium salts. The famous “Wave”, named because of its unusual shape, is part of the canyon Paria. Due to the sensitive nature of this place, only twenty people a day receive permission to visit this amazing natural monument. Ten of them get chosen by lottery, after they applied four months earlier, but those who were lucky enough to see it say it is definitely worth it.
